Tiffany & Jeremy and Jay & Laura picked a beautiful day to take to the skies over Forest. The morning was cool and crisp, and the winds were very light. The Pride of Forest took off just before 8 AM at the Boonsboro Ruritans Club and floated gently southwesterly at about 4 - 5 miles per hour. Reaching a maximum altitude of 2450 ft. MSL, the view was nothing less than spectacular. Clear blue skies above and green pastures below. After about 1 hour and 20 minutes, The Pride of Forest found its landing spot just off Perrowville Road. Afterwards, Tiffany, Jeremy, Jay and Laura toasted to a very soft landing and a picture perfect morning.

Gwen & Bruce and Janessa & Michael celebrate Labor Day by taking to the skies over Bedford County. With light southeasterly winds, The Pride of Forest climbed to an altitude of 4040 ft. MSL and drifted along Rt. 460 West. Returning to just above the tree tops, the balloon slowly floated from top to top, allowing both Bruce and Michael to reach out and grab a bouquet of leaves for their bride. Pretty cool. With the sun setting below the horizon, The Pride of Forest set down in a nice low cut field, which made for a picture perfect setting to celebrate the flight.

Forest Winds was delighted to be a part of Pat’s 65th birthday celebration this past week. Pat and husband John took to the air in The Pride of Forest on the afternoon of September 2, 2007. The balloon lifted off from New Covenant School and rapidly climbed to an altitude of 3300 ft. MSL. After takeoff however, mother nature threw a curve ball with a wind direction change and the balloon was forced to make an early landing off Cottontown Rd 40 minutes later. After a textbook landing however, we were met by Ralph Beck and his boys who were eager to lend a helping hand with pack up. A special thanks goes out to the Beck crew for all their help. And a very special happy birthday wish goes out to Pat. Happy 65th Pat…always soft landings.

Family from Salem traveled to Forest this morning to celebrate Aubrey’s 65th birthday in style. Riding in a hot air balloon is something Aubrey has always wanted to do, and today his family all joined in to make that happen. Aubrey and daughter Ann took flight aboard The Pride of Forest at 7:45 AM from the New London Academy and ascended to an altitude of 3200 ft. MSL. Slowly the balloon drifted northeasterly and then northwesterly to reach its final destination over Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. But as luck would have it, a change in in the surface winds necessitated a new landing spot…so Poplar Forest golf course ended up being the backup. Not bad, not bad at all. After a beautiful landing, everyone joined in on a rousing “Happy Birthday” song and then celebrated with a champagne toast! Happy 65th Aubrey!
